Your Greatest Protector: Refuge and Wisdom

Date: 5 - 7 Mar 2027
Teacher: Gen Kelsang Tilopa

Everyone wants to be happy, and no one wants to experience the suffering that comes from the physical problems, mental disturbances, and unwanted experiences that pervade ordinary life.

Most people seek happiness and freedom in the external world, pursuing strategies that provide temporary relief, if any, and often create more suffering. They seek solace in food, alcohol, drugs, vacations, relationships, exercise, shopping, temporary pleasures, wealth and status, and reputation. None of these can provide lasting protection, and they create even more suffering through the resulting negative minds and harmful actions that destroy the very peace and happiness they long for.

For thousands of years, people have found refuge in Buddha’s teachings and have learned to identify and cultivate the types of mind, such as love, compassion, and wisdom, that create inner peace and happiness, while avoiding the minds and actions that destroy that happiness. In this way, they created an inner protection from the storms and difficulties that pervade everyone’s life and found their own authentic, enduring inner peace and happiness.

In this weekend course, Gen Kelsang Tilopa will give teachings and lead meditations that show how, by practicing Buddha’s teachings, anyone can create their own refuge, become their own protector, and find their own unshakable inner peace and happiness.
