Take a break from the stress and busyness of daily life and enjoy an evening designed to nourish both mind and body.

Begin with a relaxing guided meditation and practical Buddhist teaching with Kelsang Sama, discovering simple methods to let go of stress and worry and experience the peace and happiness that come from a calm mind. Afterwards, relax with friends and enjoy a delicious home-cooked three-course Indian meal in the peaceful surroundings of Tara International Kadampa Retreat Centre.

Whether you're joining us for the first time or returning to see familiar faces, you'll find a warm and welcoming atmosphere. No previous meditation experience is needed, and everyone is welcome.

About the Teacher

Kelsang Sama is a Buddhist nun within the New Kadampa Tradition. She is loved for her warmth, gentle humour and clear, practical teachings, making Buddha's timeless wisdom easy to understand and apply in everyday life.

Evening Timetable

6.30–7.15pm — Guided meditation & teaching
7.30–9.00pm — Three-course Indian meal

The Meal

Enjoy a delicious, home-cooked three-course Indian meal, freshly prepared at Tara IKRC.

Soft drinks are included.
Vegan and gluten-free options are available.

As Curry & Calm is a special set-menu evening, we are unable to cater for all individual dietary requirements. If you are unsure whether the meal will be suitable for you, please contact reception before booking and we'll be happy to advise.

If you'd like to stay and attend our Saturday and Sunday events, comfortable accommodation is available, including simple rooms and en-suite options, with breakfast available in the morning.

What a gorgeous and peaceful place - the new meditation room is cosy in all weathers and a lovely place to meditate and listen to profound wisdom teachings. The cafe is full of welcoming volunteers and has really tasty coffee!! The grounds are full of beautiful trees too - not to be missed. 💛
