How to set up a shrine | Sun 3rd Nov 10am-1pm

Workshop
with Sam Shaw

In this workshop we will focus on the preliminary practices of qualified meditation, in particular setting up a personal shrine with representations of Buddha’s body, speech and mind.

In The New Eight Steps to Happiness Geshe Kelsang Gyatso says, “If our circumstances permit, it is very beneficial to set up a shrine with representations of Buddha’s body, speech and mind. A shrine provides a focus for our faith, serving as a continual reminder of the Buddhas, through whose kindness living beings have the opportunity to attain permanent inner peace and the supreme happiness of enlightenment.”

You will learn about the significance of qualified shrines and be introduced to the richness of meaning of holy images, and how they can positively influence your mental well-being.
Alongside understanding about Buddha’s body, speech and mind you will begin to explore the ritual of making water offerings and their meaning.

The workshop will conclude with an inspiration meditation, whereby you connect to your own Buddha potential by transforming your own body, speech and mind into the enlightened body, speech and mind through correct imagination.
